About Us

The North Shore Resource Centre was established in 1985 after community groups identified a need for a facility in a central location to provide sorting, storage and distribution facilities for factory off-cuts to be recycled as art and craft resources.​
Currently, the centre is manned by a team of volunteers on Wednesdays and Saturdays, 10am to 2pm.
People using the North Shore Resource Centre are asked to give a monetary donation for goods taken and the centre is always looking for donations of materials including, wool, small untreated wood off cuts, paper, cardboard, material, cards, beads, feathers or any useful item to keep up stocks.
The centre is available for community groups such as Brownies, Guides, Kindergartens, play centres, schools, home schoolers, etc… to use as a resource base.
The North Shore Resource Centre is supported by the Auckland Council.

Volunteers

The Centre is run entirely by volunteers. The main task for volunteers is to staff the centre when it is open. We are especially pleased to get volunteers able to help staff the centre for two hours on a Wednesday. There are also the usual administrative jobs, collecting large donations etc. Volunteering is fun and no one is expected to work on their own, we always staff the centre in twos or more. Its fun!!

Workshops
​
NSRC have been lucky enough to secure the sponsorship of Collective Talents which has enabled us to purchase 3 new Brother sewing machines and a Brother 4 thread overlocker at a special price. These machines will be used in our up and coming workshops.
​
We offer a range of workshops, organised and run by our volunteers. These workshops often incorporate resources from our centre, and sometimes revolve upcoming holidays. Let us know if you would like to participate in a workshop, or if you would like to run one yourself.
